Frequently Asked Questions

Which regions of New Zealand will we visit?

Our trip to New Zealand’s South Island begins and finishes in Queenstown. Across the 14-days, we’ll explore the regions of the Central and Lower South Island, including Fiordland, Queenstown & Lake Wanaka, Aoraki-Mount Cook, Otautahi Christchurch and Canterbury, and the West Coast.

Can I pay in instalments?

Absolutely! We ask for a deposit to secure your booking, and we’re happy to organise a payment schedule with you for the balance.

Will there be free-time to choose our own activities?

Of course! We’ve scheduled in free-time sessions at several of our most anticipated stops for you to customise your trip – this includes Queenstown, Wanaka, Christchurch and Franz Josef.

Want to go bungee-jumping for some more adrenaline? Tick glacier-walking off your bucket list? Want to go play a round of golf or head to a museum? Go ahead!

Please discuss your ideas with the trip coordinator so you can make bookings together.

What level of experience do I need?

As this trip is an adventurous one, we do ask travellers have a moderate level of fitness. For hikes, you’ll need to able to walk on a variety of trail types (off-trail, uneven ground, walking tracks etc.) for several kilometres. If you haven’t been kayaking before, that is fine, but you’ll need some upper-body strength to make the most of our time on the water.

If you’re unsure about your ability, please contact trip coordinator Peter to discuss. Or you may like to join one of our upcoming half-day hikes or kayaking activities to get a better sense of what might be involved.

Moderate hiking experience is required if you are interested in the Milford/Routeburn hiking extension.

I have dietary preferences – are meals included?

As many travellers have individual dietary needs, meals are not provided unless where specified. We instead arrange times at local stores to buy food and supplies to make our own meals that caters to everyone’s needs.

I’d like to upgrade my flights – how can I do this?

Please indicate your flight preferences when making your trip enquiry, and we’ll factor this into your booking.

Wishing to extend the adventure?

We are currently taking expressions of interest for those wishing to extend their trip by hiking the Milford and Routeburn tracks.

At the end of the South Island Adventure, a small group would depart Queenstown for Fiordland, and tackle the Milford and Routeburn tracks – adding an additional 8 days to their trip. At the conclusion of this extension, the group would travel back to Queenstown for their departing flights to Australia.

This extension is suitable for adventurers that already have moderate experience and ability in hiking. In your expression of interest, please indicate what hiking experience you have and any injuries/medical conditions that you may need to disclose.

Travellers will be staying in huts (shared accommodation) along the track. For further information or to add your name to the interest list, submit a query via the Enquire Now form.

Subject to availability and group interest.
